A passion for podiatry runs deep in the Weil family. Born and raised in the Chicagoland area, Dr. Lowell Weil Jr., grew up watching his father, Lowell Sr., work as a podiatrist in local hospitals and as the Team Podiatrist for the Chicago Bears. So, it was no surprise that Dr. Lowell Weil Jr. attended the William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago for his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine after graduating from Vanderbilt University.
“I followed in the footsteps of my father entering the field of Podiatric Medicine,” he said.
Dr. Weil is a board-certified podiatrist, who is also board-certified in foot & ankle surgery and reconstructive rearfoot/ankle surgery.
Armed with an additional Master in Business Administration degree, today Dr. Weil Jr. is not only a podiatrist but also the CEO of Weil Foot & Ankle Institute and the Executive Chairman for Balance Health, Weil’s parent company. He makes use of both his podiatric expertise and his business training to provide the best environment for patients, team members, and physicians for the highest level of care. In addition to being trained in the latest surgical techniques, Dr. Weil Jr. embodies the ethics of care that makes WFAI special. He believes that every patient’s story deserves to be heard.
Dr. Weil Jr. enjoys forming relationships with his patients and working together to make them well. His specialties include Advanced Diagnostics, Scarfplasty, Plantar Plate Repair, Chronic Heel Pain, EPAT/ESWT, Swift Microwave for Plantar Warts, and Regenerative Injections.
“I am incredibly passionate about patient care, podiatry, and foot and ankle surgery. I am proud to have led the growth of our organization that is now nationwide and impacting tens of thousands of patients yearly,” said Dr. Weil Jr. “I have served as the Team Podiatric Consultant to the Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bulls in the past; been the Editor of Foot and Ankle Specialist, the only peer-reviewed journal in world that combines podiatry and orthopedics; been the President of the International Society of Medical Shock Wave; authored dozens of peer-reviewed publications; and invented procedures to advance the care of patients in foot and ankle surgery. I have lectured in 26 states and 14 countries worldwide. I have several patents on surgical implants that have improved patient care.”
Outside of work, Dr. Weil Jr. enjoys spending as much time as possible with his wife, Wendy (who is also a podiatric physician in our group) and their three children. They especially love cooking together and traveling the world. He also continues to spend plenty of time with his mother and father. He enjoys golf, racquet sports, cooking, food, travel, and family.
Dr. Weil is accepting new patients!
