Dr. Sharif Denden is board certified in foot and recontructive rearfoot/ankle surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery®. He was born and raised in the city of Chicago. He attended the University of Illinois in Urbana/Champaign, earning a bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology. Dr. Denden is a longtime soccer player and has suffered a number of sports injuries that have required long recoveries. This inspired him toward the field of podiatry and foot & ankle surgery, providing him an invaluable perspective in patient care.
Like many WFAI podiatrists, he earned his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from the William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. He then completed his surgical residency training in Chicago at Rush University Medical Center where he received advanced training in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery under the guidance of many of the field’s top podiatric and orthopedic surgeons.
He received extensive training in all aspects of foot and ankle care with an emphasis on trauma, sports injuries, arthroscopy, elective foot and ankle reconstruction, total ankle replacement, limb deformity correction, and limb salvage/wound care. He provides both nonoperative and operative care for the management of foot and ankle disorders.
He prides himself on the patient-doctor relationship. He recognizes the responsibilities a doctor holds in providing personalized care and treatment during a patient’s recovery as they try to get back to the activities they love doing most. He’s devoted to staying up-to-date on the latest research and advancements in medicine and surgery in order to provide patients the highest quality of care. He has been active in research and presented on various foot and ankle surgery topics on a regional and national level.
Dr. Denden is well-versed in many surgeries including Ankle and Foot Fracture Care and Surgery, Flatfeet and Reconstructive Flatfoot Surgery, and Ankle and Foot Reconstructive Surgery. He also specializes in injuries such as Achilles tendon ruptures and injuries, Lisa Franc injuries, sports injuries, ankle and foot sprains/strains, and trauma. Additionally, his specialties include: tendinitis of the ankle and foot, ankle instability, arthritis, limb deformity correction, bunions, neuromas, plantar fasciitis, and hammertoes.
When he is not working, Dr. Denden enjoys playing soccer, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. You can also find him supporting his favorite Chicago sports teams as he is an avid fan of the Bulls, Cubs, and Bears.
