Dr. Jennifer Bernstein is a board-certified podiatrist with Weil Foot & Ankle Institute.
Dr. Jennifer Bernstein grew up in the west suburbs of Chicago, where she was a competitive figure skater with the International Skating Corporation and a member of the DuPage Figure Skating Club. Over time, she suffered injuries that led her to pursue other goals. Dr. Bernstein attended the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she obtained her undergraduate degree in kinesiology, determining that podiatry could be a great way to connect to the figure skating world through the treatment of injured athletes.
After graduating from UIC in 2009, Dr. Bernstein attended the William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago and graduated in 2013. She then spent three years completing her podiatric medicine and surgery residency at the University of Louisville and Jewish hospitals. Here she also received exceptional training in reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery.
Happy to be back in the Chicago area, Dr. Bernstein enjoys treating all aspects of foot and ankle pathology in patients of all ages. Wound care is a particular passion of hers. She provides comprehensive foot and ankle care with a focus on limb salvage procedures such as amputation, wound care, and skin substitutes. Her clinical expertise includes Swift and wart treatments, ingrown toenail procedures, custom orthotics, nail fungus treatment, and management of heel pain, ankle sprains, stress fractures, and diabetic or venous ulcers. She also offers conservative management of bunions and a full range of podiatric services tailored to each patient’s needs.
Outside of work, Dr. Bernstein is a proud identical twin boy mom to Xander and Sebastian and dog mom to Sophie (a Shih Tzu) and Phoebe (a Pug). She is a self-described foodie who enjoys cooking with her husband and exploring new restaurants. She is currently working on her Spanish language skills through conversational classes at CLC to better support her diverse patient population.
