Dr. Ashmi Shah grew up in Virginia Beach and has spent most of her life in Virginia.
She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Virginia, earning a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a minor in Biology. She earned her doctorate in Podiatric Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.
She did an intensive three-year surgical residency at Roxborough Memorial Hospital located in Philadelphia, PA, which trained her in both forefoot and rearfoot surgeries including tendon injuries, bunion and hammertoe correction, soft tissue pathology and more. During residency she also received extensive training in wound care at multiple wound centers in the Philadelphia area.
Dr. Shah is focused on limb salvage as well as a holistic approach to podiatry. She wants her patients to feel heard and validated. Her goal is to make patients feel comfortable and knowledgeable about their condition and to leave the appointment feeling confident in their treatment plan and goals.
Before joining 1Foot 2Foot, she practiced podiatry in Hampton, VA. She is board certified with the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. She is also a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and the Virginia Podiatric Medical Association.
In her spare time, Dr. Shah enjoys traveling. She has traveled to over 15 countries so far. She is an avid reader, reading books of all genres, particularly fiction. She is also trying her hand at baking.
