What is Radial Shock wave Therapy (RSWT)?

RSWT is a non surgical method of reducing heel pain through pneumatically generated pressure waves that travel through the skin. The pressure waves come in contact with the inflammed tissue and stimulates the body’s natural self healing process. The treatment is safe and effective and is FDA approved.

Who benefits from this treatment?

RSWT is especially beneficial for patients that have chronic heel pain and have not had success with previous therapies such as medications, orthotics, steroid injections or stretching. There is no lost time from work. No need for anesthesia or injections. No need for a surgery center.

What is involved in the treatment?

The procedure is performed in the office. The area of maximal pain is targeted for transmission of pressure waves over the injured area. A typical session lasts about 15 minutes. Three sessions are required and spaced between one and two weeks apart.

What are the expected results?

Most patients notice improvement after the first treatment; however, 70-80% of patients experience improved healing between 4 and 8 months after the last treatment.

What is the cost of RSWT?

The fee for this treatment is $750.00 which includes 3 treatment sessions. Insurance rarely covers RSWT and is not accepted by this office.
