Dr. Jana Olivova is a Fellow at the University Foot & Ankle Institute. She was born and raised in Prague, Czech Republic, where she became a two-time national champion runner. Her successful running career was abruptly ended by severe lower extremity injuries, which led her to the United States at age 25 to study podiatry. Before entering the field of medicine, Dr. Olivova earned a degree in International Relations from Metropolitan University in Prague and became certified in Nutrition and Sport Dietology.
She later graduated summa cum laude with dual bachelor’s degrees in Neuroscience and Psychology from Florida Atlantic University, where she also conducted research at the prestigious Max Planck Neuroscience Institute. Dr. Olivova earned her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from Barry University in Miami, Florida, continuing her research and contributing publications to the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery and the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association.
She completed her three-year surgical residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida, serving as chief resident. Her training covered trauma (e.g., metatarsal and ankle fractures), elective surgeries (e.g., bunion and hammertoe correction), and wound care. She became board certified in wound care (CWSP) by the American Board of Wound Care Management in 2024 and has a special interest in minimally invasive techniques and regenerative medicine.
In addition to her lower extremity expertise, Dr. Olivova has over 10 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities, including autism, cerebral palsy, Rett Syndrome, and quadriplegia. She is known for her work ethic, compassion, bedside manner, and dedication to patient care. She currently resides in Santa Monica, California, with her English Bulldog, Sugar.
Her interests include trail running, hiking, spinning, Pilates, fashion, traveling, reading, food, and theatre.
