Balance Health Surgical Fellowship Program

At Balance Health, we believe in supporting the future of dedicated podiatrists.

At Balance Health, we believe in supporting the future of dedicated podiatrists. As such, we have developed standardized Surgical Fellowship programs that teach a variety of facets of Podiatric Medicine. In addition to gaining exposure to all aspects of podiatric surgery, Fellows learn directly from a Dermatopathologist at Balance Health’s own Dermatopathology Lab. Our programs allows fellows to graduate with the clinical and surgical skills needed to not just function – but excel – in today’s private practice setting.

The programs are offered at locations throughout the country to help support a wider base of fellows. While the specific duties may vary by location, each fellow will receive:

  • Surgical skill-building at all levels
  • Training with the Balance Health team comprised of well-versed attending physicians and nationally recognized surgeons
  • Fellowship-based clinical experience
  • Continuity management training for patients transitioning between the office, hospital, and surgery
  • Training on billing and coding principles
  • Exposure to fellow-focused surgical labs
  • Research support and publishing opportunities
  • Access to a Multi-center Journal Club
  • Education on and training on prescribing durable medical equipment (DME), such as orthotics and braces
  • Knowledge of dermatopathology evaluation and sampling with our Balance Health Dermatopathologist
  • Admittance to Balance Health doctor educational Zoom meeting(s) and the annual Balance Health seminar (if coverage allows).
At Balance Health, we take pride in fostering a learning environment within our fellowship programs. Through this one-year training, fellows will be able to optimize the way they practice podiatry and care for patients throughout their lifetime. While the hours may be long, we promise you the training will be worth every minute!
IFAAC
The Integrative Foot and Ankle Fellowship is a one-year, high-volume fellowship providing comprehensive training in advanced foot and ankle surgery. Fellows will work directly with 10 experienced foot and ankle surgeons, including three fellowship-trained specialists, and participate in over 1,200 surgical cases annually. Training emphasizes complex pathology, including total ankle replacement, Charcot reconstruction, revision surgery, foot and ankle trauma, limb deformity correction, diabetic limb salvage, and advanced reconstructive procedures. Fellows will also gain extensive experience through hospital call at Providence Regional Medical Center Everett, a Level II Trauma Center and one of Washington State's largest hospitals. Dedicated clinic time allows fellows to develop expertise in both operative and non-operative foot and ankle care while learning the essential business principles of modern medical practice, including practice management, coding, documentation, physician leadership, and healthcare operations. In partnership with the Swedish Podiatric Residency Program in Seattle, fellows will participate in resident education and surgical teaching, further developing their academic and leadership skills. Additional opportunities include clinical research, industry-sponsored cadaver laboratories, and advanced surgical training courses. The fellowship is designed to produce confident, well-rounded foot and ankle surgeons prepared to excel in both clinical practice and leadership.
