Dr. Christensen founded the Ankle & Foot Clinic of Everett, now part of Integrative Foot & Ankle Centers of Washington, in 1988. He has specialized in complex reconstructive foot and ankle surgery for 34 years and is dedicated to helping patients with challenging foot, ankle, and lower leg problems. He is nationally recognized for his extensive experience in teaching Arthroscopy, Total Ankle Replacement, Foot & Ankle Trauma, and Ankle Reconstruction to established surgeons and surgical residents across the country.

Dr. Christensen obtained a bachelor’s degree with honors in biology from Northeastern University in Boston in 1979 and graduated from the California College of Podiatric Medicine in 1983. He received his training in Reconstructive Foot & Ankle Surgery at the Swedish Podiatric Surgical Residency Program in Seattle in 1985.

Dr. Christensen is appointed to the medical staffs of: Swedish Medical Center in Seattle and Issaquah, Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, and St. Anne’s Hospital in Burien. He has presented over 475 regional, national, and international lectures and written over 70 papers and book chapters on foot & ankle surgery. At Swedish Medical Center, Dr. Christensen is the founder and director of the Northwest Surgical Biomechanics Laboratory, which is dedicated to furthering the understanding of foot & ankle deformities, conditions, and optimizing treatment methods. He is Past Chairman of Podiatric Surgery Division, Department of Orthopedics at Swedish Medical Center. He also served on the Board of Directors for the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons and is past Research Director for The International Foot & Ankle Foundation for Research & Education.

Dr. Christensen is on the APEX 3D™ surgeon design team for Paragon 28, Inc. and has contributed to the creation of the APEX 3D™ total ankle replacement.

His proven expertise draws patients from all over the Northwest region, Alaska, and the West Coast. His interests include: Total Ankle Replacement, Cartilage Resurfacing of the Ankle, Ankle & Subtalar Arthroscopy, Flatfoot Reconstruction, Ankle Arthritis, Complex Foot & Ankle Problems, Congenital Foot Problems, Fractures & Dislocations.

He shares his personal time with his wife, Cheryl, and Hawaiian Poi rescue dog, Kona. He enjoys collecting wines, scientific writing, road biking, and traveling with his family.
