Dr. Gerard Costella was born and raised in New Jersey.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Moravian College, then received his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Throughout his schooling, Dr. Costella excelled when taking on extracurricular leadership roles and advocacy positions. After his doctorate, he completed a rigorous three-year residency in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery at Cooper University Hospital – a Level 1 trauma center located in Camden, New Jersey, affiliated with Cooper Medical School at Rowan University. During his training, Dr. Costella played an active role on patient advocacy committees and served as Chief Resident during his final year.
Extensively trained in the conservative and surgical treatment of all disorders of the foot and ankle, Dr. Costella promises to bring an upbeat attitude and personalized attention to any of your concerns. He is an active member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and associate of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
Dr. Costella enjoys calling Hampton Roads his home. Driving over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel puts a smile on his face. When not at work, he can often be found exploring a new restaurant, whipping up a delicious meal at home or being active in recreational sports.
