Dr. Kevin Kirby has been practicing podiatry in Sacramento since 1985. He grew up in Sacramento, went to C.K. McClatchy High School, and completed his undergraduate degree at UC Davis.
Dr. Kirby went on to graduate from the California College of Podiatric Medicine (CCPM) in 1983 and completed his first-year surgical residency at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Palo Alto, California. He spent his second post-graduate year doing the Fellowship in Podiatric Biomechanics at CCPM, where he also earned his M.S. degree.
He has distinguished himself as one of the leading podiatric authorities in the world in foot and lower extremity biomechanics, foot orthotic therapy, and sports medicine. He has written four books that are being used by podiatrists and other health professionals in nine different countries, with all four of his books also having been translated into Spanish language editions. He has authored or co-authored six book chapters and 28 publications in peer-reviewed journals, and he frequently lectures internationally as an invited and keynote speaker at scientific seminars. He has also lectured extensively throughout the United States. Additionally, Dr. Kirby has invented and developed foot orthotic techniques that are used worldwide in foot orthotic therapy, and he has created new theories and clinical tests in foot and lower extremity biomechanics that are now being taught in podiatric medical schools around the world.
He holds the title of Adjunct Associate Professor in Biomechanics at the California School of Podiatric Medicine and still lectures at national and international seminars on a regular basis. Dr. Kirby is also a member of the editorial advisory board for the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association and a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Biomechanics, Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery, Medicine and Science in Sport and Exercise, and Journal of Foot and Ankle Research.
Dr. Kirby specializes in both the conservative and surgical treatment of foot and ankle disorders in children and adults, in the treatment of sports injuries for all ages, and in foot orthotics. Some of the more common problems Dr. Kirby treats includes arthritis, athlete’s foot, bunions, corns and calluses, custom orthotics, flat feet/high arches, fractures, fungal toenails, heel pain/spurs, ingrown toenails, neuromas, sports injuries, warts.
In addition, Dr. Kirby is also an accomplished athlete with a personal best in the marathon of 2:28.
Dr. Kirby is accepting new patients.
