Dr. Thomas J. Chang is a board-certified and highly skilled podiatric surgeon with over 20 years of experience treating a wide range of foot and ankle conditions.
Dr. Chang graduated with his doctorate degree from the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine, where he was a member of the Pi Delta National Podiatry Honor Society and recipient of the Professor Louis M. Newman Surgery Award. He then completed a three-year residency program in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at Emory/Northlake Regional Medical Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
In addition to his training and practice duties, Dr. Chang also holds several appointments at local hospitals and medical schools. He is a Clinical Professor and Past Chairman of the Department of Podiatric Surgery at the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco. He also is Past Chief of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa. He served as Director of Surgical Residency Training as well as Health South Surgery Center.
Dr. Chang has been recognized multiple times over the years for contributions to his field. Some of these honors include: “Top 150 Most Influential Podiatrists” in 2006, appointment to the Board of Podiatric Medicine for the State of California, elected to the Regional Division Board of Directors for the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, and a “Top Doc” at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital in 2011. He continues to provide numerous lectures for Continuing Medical Education courses to impart his expertise to other doctors.
He has contributed many articles to medical journals for emerging surgical technologies and has also participated as a co-investigator and sub-investigator for relevant research studies. However, he is most proud of his textbook, “Master Techniques in Podiatric Surgery: The Foot and Ankle,” which has sold over 6,000 copies worldwide. A generous 25% of the book’s sales goes towards international medical mission funds. Dr. Chang also serves on the editorial board of the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association and Podiatry Today Magazine.
